Mowing the lawn with a mower!

People like gardening because it is a good exercise, give you a lot of relaxation, and pleasing to watch plants grow. Gardening has become increasingly popular. Home gardens are of two types – outdoor gardens and indoor gardens. Garden is not only a past time or hobby but also makes the surroundings beautiful.

Lawns not only beautify the surroundings but also help prevent soil erosion. Lawns are a thick covering of closely cut grass. A lawn gifts an uplift to the building or house in which it surrounds with its greenery. A successful lawn should grow evenly and the colour and texture should both be uniform throughout.

Good care should be taken for a lawn. Watering when there is no rain, fertilizing at least twice a year, controlling diseases by mixing medicines with a push type spreader, checking for pests and weeds, mowing etc should be done at proper intervals. A sharp pointed rod or a knife is good to pull out weeds by its roots which grow in between the lawns.

The height of the grass defers from grass to grass. A manual or push type mower is suitable for a house use. It gives a good exercise while pushing the mower with hands to and fro. Power mowers are easy to use and can be used to any size and type of grasses. A riding mower or a small tractor attached with a mower is usually used in hotels, parks, etc where there is large area of lawn. A power mower may have an electric or petrol motor. All mowers have a reel – type or rotary blades. A rotary mower has a propeller like blade similar to a helicopter that spins rapidly. This is easy to use and maintain.

All mowers should be properly maintained. It should be cleaned properly and oiled often and kept away from children as they have very sharp blades.

Motor mowers are needed only for schools, parks, and offices etc where a large area is occupied by lawns. For house lawns usually manual lawn mower is used. You have to consider the size of your lawn, nature of the grass grown, whether your lawn is a flat lawn or an inclined one and much more before you buy a lawn mover. Always take an experts advice before you buy a new lawn mower.

A well maintained lawn gives much joy and happiness to every one who passes by.
